Gallery2 Integration>howto

Post by vossen »

i been searching 2 days to get it working and i just like to share it. us it perhaps helps other people to bring this great systems together.
my information are based on CMS made simple 0.11.2 http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/downloads.shtml and Gallery2 2.02 http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Download
gallery2 should be installed in the root, with gallery2

ghostrifle did i nice plugin what he announced in this treat http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 40.30.html with the name G2Mod
download link is here http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/g2mod/.

upload the module in your module folder and install it with the admin interface in CMS made simple.
use this tag {cms_module module="G2Mod"} in the page.
and you should see the gallery2.
now you need to change the theme in gallery2 to fit your needs and that it fits in your cms made simple.
the best way to do this is, go to /public_html/gallery2/themes/matrix/templates create a new folder and name it "local". download the theme.tpl and change the look as you need it and upload it to the new created folder "local". you can't mess anything, as the local folder is overwriting the original file.
if you mess the theme.tpl just replace it with the original again. easy...you will see.

problems what i faced is that you need to remove the short url's in CMS made simple and in Gallery2.
so it's not usable to my knowledge and the external image block from gallery2 points always back to the original gallery2.
what again i been not able to find a solution.
but if you do not need this. it should be fine for you.
good luck
and thanks to ghostrifle to write the module.
regards
stefan

Hi there,

thanks for the hint - but i have one problem: If i use the module, i loose the possibility to login. I have been looking for other pages which use the g2mod but it seems that they encounter the same difficulties as well:

At

http://www.jensensweb.com/index.php?page=gallery

the login button is missing

whereas at

http://www.jensensweb.com/gallery/main.php

it is present.

Is there a workaround? Or did I just loose sight of something?  :-\

Thanks!
mauri

yes you are right, the login is gone then, but you are able to access it the old way> just go to www.yourdomain.com/gallery2/main.php.
i read a posting about it  somewhere, that CMS made simple will look into it.
