Cannot access CMSMS directory after extracting upgrade

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Cannot access CMSMS directory after extracting upgrade

Post by Edwin_IandD »

Hello all,

I am running into a problem trying to upgrade from 2.1.2 to 2.1.6

I am running a set up of CMSMS in a separate folder 'www.mywebsite.com/newdesign' while I am working on a new website.

The problem is that when I extract the upgrade zip file in the '/newdesign' folder I cannot access that folder in my browser to start the upgrade. The site 'jumps' immediately back to 'http://www.mywebsite.com

Also I do not see the cmsms-2.1.6-install.php file anywhere on my server (as described here: https://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/upgradin ... nformation). Now it could be that this is changed and not yet updated in the docs. I do see that the index.php file size is changed, so that's probably how it should work..

Anyway, I have already tried setting a root_url and root_path in my config, without any luck.

If anybody has any ideas I'd love to hear!

Thanks a lot,
Edwin

Upload the installer file to the website root and unzip it.
Note: if you can't perform this on your web server, unzip locally then upload the .php file to your website root.
The mentioned file should be there. The documentation seems ok.

If you can't find the files after extracting the zip on the server (or uploading the extracted files to your server) that would be the first thing to solve. Without installer no upgrade.

Hmm, I must have downloaded the wrong file then.. I just extracted the zip on my local drive and the file isn't there.

There is however a new index.php in the zip archive.

I'll have a look if there is an other file to download.

ok, just downloaded the other file - apparently I had downloaded the expanded version before - but I am running into the same problem:

As soon as I go to http://www.mywebsite.com/newdesign/cmsms-2.1.6-install.php it instantly jumps to http://www.mywebsite.com instead of updating CMSMS

Any suggestions?

Could it be some redirection/rewriting in .htaccess in the webroot of /newdesign folder(s)?

Nope, I'm afraid not. Just downloaded the .htaccess file to be absolutely sure, but there are no re-directs in there at all..
