I'm tryng to update a previous CMS Made Simple 2.1.3, but when I call the apdater (both the compressed and uncompressed version) I obtain only a 404 error page. If I deactivate the error page, I obtain a file not found error.
How can I solve this?

I'd consider disabling url_rewriting in config.php and rename .htaccess
If upgrade succeeded revert those changes.
