2.1.4 and 2.1.5 installation timing out

I have tried to install either version 2.1.4 or 2.1.5 on my server that I have done successfully many times before and now I'm getting the following error:

Request Timeout

This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.

It literally gives me this error within 9 seconds. I have increased the time on my server to these settings:

I can't get either version to install using either: cmsms-2.1.5-install.zip or the expanded download.

I am able to use the Installatron one-click-app on the hosting company to install version 1.12.1, but when I try and then use the newer version to upgrade, the install freezes at step 7.

PHP version 5.5.36 and it doesn't matter if I go up to 5.6 or any other version of PHP.

I have re-downloaded the software, too. Didn't make any difference.

Appreciate any insight.

Do you mean to say that you have installed CMSMS 2.1.x (including 2.1.4) on the same server numerous times, but now all of a sudden you are getting a request-timeout within 9 seconds?

If that is the case, then I would suggest looking at the output of phpinfo(); and see what you can see, specifically stuff related to 'time'.

i.e: create a simple php file called info.php containing:

<?php phpinfo();

and then browse to it.

I can tell you that the installation code has not changed significantly at all since 2.1 so if it used to work, and now it doesn't work... then I would be looking at server changes.

If it never worked on this server, then it may require some intense debugging to find out why.

I have used CMSMS in subdirectories of my website to demonstrate designs and integration to clients. So I've been able to install it a number of times and then remove it once the client approves everything and it is moved to their servers.

I am trying a new install for a new client and using 2.1.4 it times out going to step 6 using the expanded installation.

2.1.5 also times out going into step 6

I might be wrong but the first thing that comes in to mind (hence my questions) is that the process times out during the creation of dummy index.html files. The installer makes them in all folders at the server. In most cases it is not a problem. But when having multiple installs on a server the installer also checks folders from other sites. This behavior is changed in the upcoming 2.2 release and will only check core folders.

Good point, but I'm having it create the site with empty content, if that's what you are meaning?

I also only have the one installation that I am attempting to install. No others. I wipe them out and clean out the databases, too.
