CMSMS 1.11 - Galapagos

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

CMSMS 1.11 - Galapagos

Post by Dr.CSS »

Although there has been an extensive beta program for our new CMSMS version 1.11, it can be possible that some small or minor issues surface when installing/upgrading...

If you are having problems, If you did not find any information or clue on how to solve your problem, please use this thread to post them...

PLEASE: Give as much info as possible, each step you took, system info, etc., it helps to get to the root of the problem quicker...

hi,

I have the following problem during upgrading from the so far latest cms version. in step 5, I always get the error:

Building static route database...
Fatal error: Class 'news_admin_ops' not found in /www/htdocs/v109038/cmsmadesimple/modules/News/News.module.php on line 442

I hope you can help me since my site is now down due to this issue! :-(

thanks a lot!

I can confirm this issue.

Oddly, I had this happen on one upgrade, but not another on the same server.

Not suggesting this as a fix, but I got around this by renaming the news module directory to allow the upgrade to complete, and then renamed the directory back to News and upgraded it with the module manager. Again... YMMV, but it seemed to work for me.

am

Edit: I misspoke above. I did NOT upgrade the News module with the module manager. I just upgraded it from the module list. Sorry for the confusion.

thanks a lot for that trick. now my site is up again, at least.
I think I will never upgrade my installation in the future in the first days. ;-)

one additional remark: for me, it is not possible to rename the news module back to its original name after the upgrading process is done. as soon as I do this, I get again the error message from above and my site does not load...

a: There is insufficient information for us to be able to assist in diagnosing this issue.
b: Did you do a system verification after uploading all of the files to make sure that they all made it there properly?
c: Numerous upgrade tests were done (dozens) beforer 1.11 was released. Including by beta members. None of them reported this issue.

moorezilla indicated that he encountered this issue on only one of 2 sites on the same server. I would be inclined to think that this is an upload issue rather than a CMSMS issue.

I'll try to recreate the issue and better document it today or tomorrow.... can't right now.

Update:

Just updated another site on the same server and it worked flawlessly. Checksums was fine. Only thing I could notice about the one that did not upgrade correctly was that two files did not upload correctly (the index.htm files for the tmp directories... as the permissions on the tmp directory were too restrictive). The one that did not complete correctly also uses more modules than the ones that worked correctly. I see that formbuilder has just been updated, so perhaps that was something of note. Odd, however, that the error mentioned the News module. Basically, I don't have anything conclusive yet.

Here's the system dump on the one that gave me problems, in case it's of use:

hi again,

i tested and tried various things to get the news working again. i did now the same as moorezilla: renamed the news module before upgrading, then went into the admin backend and downloaded the newest version of the module there. after this, the module didn't work at all. but it started to work after i deleted the cache via the admin backend.

perhaps moorezilla can recreate the issue and help to understand what went wrong. i am not such an expert in things like that and am glad at the moment that everything seem to work fine now on my site.

If you downloaded News from the ModuleManager you are using a 2008 version, and hence just nullified our ability to support you.

This is a simple process
- Do a site verification to make sure your files uploaded properly.

Recreated the error on another install on a different server with significantly more modules and news items.

error_log includes:

Checksums passed before attempting upgrade, so it's not an upload issue.

php 5.3.x, centos, apache 2, mysql 5.5.x

upgrade stalls with:

Adding module_smarty_plugins table...[done]
Enhancing the adminlog table...[done]
Enhancing the css table table... [done]
Creating routes table... [done]
Adding an index to the content table.... [done]
Building static route database...

never completes page.

Utime failed: Permission denied in ...
Seems like you have some permissions problems on that server.
that line tries to 'touch' a file in the tmp/templates_c directory so it sounds like there is a problem there... but I would check your modules directories too (particularly the directories for News).

Thanks.

I thought it might be a permissions issue, so before running the upgrade, I chmod'd the entire tmp directory to 770, with my user and the apache user included in the group. I don't, for that reason, think it was an issue with the tmp directory.

The modules directory, however, might be an issue. When I look at that directory now, inside News, there are two files that are only owned by my user:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 user group 1312 Jul 29 11:30 Simplex_Detail_template.tpl
-rw-rw-r-- 1 user group 2389 Jul 29 11:30 Summary_Simplex_template.tpl

Since the half-finished upgrade prevents admin area access, I couldn't dump anything before doing this:

1. Renaming News to NewsOld
2. Restarting and completing the upgrade process.
3. Viewing the modules page in the admin area.
4. Renaming NewsOld back to News.
5. Reloading modules page in admin area (which loads without css, but is still usable.)
6. Clicking on the upgrade option next to News (which says needs upgrade).

After this, everything appears to be fine. I'm dumping system information below, but unfortunately, this is the system information after the upgrade:

----------------------------------------------

My upgrade also stalled at
Building static route database...

I renamed News module and got passed this point as reported.

But unlike 'moorezilla' I got a fatal error on modules page:

Cannot override final method CMSModule::can_cache_output() in /my/path/cmsms/modules/FrontEndUsers ... I did not write it down :(

Anyway, FEU existed as directory in modules but was not installed. renaming the FrontEndUsers directory got me to (a CSS free) modules page and after clicking Upgrade next to "News" the Admin section appears to be good.

Found new location for clearing cache and did so. Then renamed install directory. But now I get this on the frontend:

Error: at line 806 in file /my/path/cmsms/lib/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase.php

Message: Call of unknown method '_compile_source'.

Any idea what to try next?

in 1.10.3 i could call UDTs within admin environment. now in 1.11 every UDT is unknown and causes a fatal error. is there a reason for that?
