New installation -No installation pages to do the installation as expected

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

New installation -No installation pages to do the installation as expected

Post by liufa.xk »

Hi, I have used to install with ease several php scripts such as joomla 1.5 rc, phpBB7, DrupaIED, Moodle. I found no problems and difficulty to install them the same way I did for all the rest.I had used file manager to upload and had  upziped  cmsmadesimple into public_html/cmsmadesimple/

I found installation of this script is different than all the above, in the  sense than I could not

2-I browsed for a new page for this url http:www.xuankong-liufa-ebooks.com/cmcmadesimple. I had the index and list of subfolder and cmsmadesimple. I could not find any installation page that began the  installation. I could not  install this script the way as I had used and experienced with those other above mentioned php sciprts.

3-I open up config.php file and all the date  base information in mysql. Could some one please advise  how I am going to  install this  scripts successfully. I had  researched into some posts on this issues and read the documentation but to no avail.

4-I think I like this cms made simple script more than all other and I would like to  do the installation successfully and research on how to make most of it for my uses.

Thank

Hello,

it seems your post has somewhat shrunk netween "I could not" and "2-I browsed..." hence I don't understand what you have done sofar and what went wrong.
Have you read http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... stallation ?

Hi, thank you for your reply. I had checked out on all those documentation and faq you had mentioned hereof. I was tryign tio mean that there was no installation page that automatically install the script like in the case of all those php scripts I have mentioned hereof.

I am not a IT technical man and I learn to install  php scripts by trial and error so far and all along all went by the same standard procedure. But with this cmsmadesimple, I had faced with No Such Installation page to do the installation automatically onto the server.I dont know what changes I have and need to make to any file to  make it ( Installation )doing that.

any advise is greatly appreciated Thank you

Not likely that I can help, but....

The installation script does not start until you get to Step 8 of the installation instructions. You have to do steps 1-7 manually.

Thanks.

Ok, I have extracted and uploaded all folders onto/public_html/

2-I have created a blank config.php file

3-I browsed for a new pages /public_html/cmsmadesimples/cmsmadesimples-1.2.3/upload/images/logo1gif/

Normally at stage 3, installation file would do the installation automatically and in one of the the process and stages, I would fill in all information required for  mySQL. ( This I have no problems).

My Problems were:

1-Nothing happened at stage 3 as usually expected, I would only see the logo.gif and  nothing else, no template and nothing

2-Do I have to complete user name, password, data base name and so on in the config.php I had created or to do so in the stage 3 ( This never happen)

From here, what should I do?  do I have to attend to .atccesss  file as well?

That link not work.

From first post, maybe you have a wrong installation (http://www.xuankong-liufa-ebooks.com/cm ... mple-1.2.3):
- is missing many folders
- config.php is in parent folder and not in cmsmadesimple-1.2.3 folder

Yes, I agree with Alby.

When I look at http://www.xuankong-liufa.com/cmsmadesi ... ple-1.2.3/ it is missing all CMSMS files and many of the folders too.

Remove the cmsmadesimple-1.2.3 folder and from the cmsmadesimple folder start with installation step 2 (http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... ll_Install) by isssuing the "tar -zxf cmsmadesimple-1.2.3.tar.gz" command.
