[Active/Inactive] Page state in CMS

Post by vinyl »

Is it possible to check if a page is active in the CMS?

If you would like to do a redirect to lets say "example" but it is marked as "inactive" in the backend that it defaults to another page?

I know the redirecting etc takes custom code but that is not a problem.

You can create a new page with the field Content Type set to "Error Page"

If a page does not exist or is not active, the user will be redirected to that page.

Perhaps a better solution to this would be a section within CMSMS which lists page and GCB dependencies. This way, you could quickly see the links, redirects, GCBs etc which make reference to that page alias/ID.

Taking it a step further, when creating a redirect page, disable the selection of any page which is marked as 'inactive'. Also, when changing a page to 'Inactive', alert the user which dependencies exist so that they can decide whether to proceed or not.
