cms_selflink email on error

i believe cms_selflink creates a link to the root_url if it cannot find a page alias or, if a page is inactive.

i would love to see a parameter that tells cms_selflink to
1) just print text or image without the link if page not found or disabled
2) send email to admin or display notification on backend with the page alias that isnt found and page alias where error occurred.

on high traffic websites this could lead to many emails. i use this concept in a UDT to link to third party e-commerce software. when a product is disabled or not found, the should-be-link is displayed as plain text and I get an email alerting me to do something. makes my life a lot easier, and customers never notice a thing.
