Side menu in Simplex template

Hi

I am using the latest version of cmsms 2.1.5. and trying to create a new responsive template from the Simplex template provided.

Could someone explain how I can display the menu in the left sidebar.

We have a number of pages with two sub levels, so we would prefer the sub menus to pop out of the right hand side of the menu. Also for the menu to collapse to the button icon when on a narrow screen.

Is there an example anywhere? or can someone point me in the right direction.
