Taking off the Submenu

Hello,
I am writing from Germany and i am new to cmsms. Could any one please help me? I want to take off the Submenu that appears when i want to add the under menus to the same parent menu. I don't want that submenu or subpart appears. How can i make it?
Secondly when i want to upload a picture i press the button upload then i choose the picture that i want to place on the page (that i just uploaded) the cmsms says to me " Please choose a Picture" Why that? Thank you...
