Big menu structure

I Have a menu system:

Menu 1
-Sub Menu 1
-Sub Menu 2
- - Sub Sub Menu 1
- - Sub Sub Menu 2
- Sub Menu 3
Menu 2
-Sub Menu 1
-Sub Menu 2
- - Sub Sub Menu 1
- - Sub Sub Menu 2
- Sub Menu 3
Menu 3
Menu 4
Menu 5
Menu 6

At the moment I load the entire menu on every page, and on a sub menu page I set the parent class to here and then use jquery to hide the other sub menus, but on slow connections the user is seeing the entire menu then it collapses.

Is there a way in the menu manager to over come this? can I tell it to only display relevant sub menus to the page I am on, I have messed with it and when you got down to tier 3 its started doing some strange things
