I'm getting ready to choose a CMS for the site I am working on. The client has a few requirements and I was going to list them and wanted to be sure CMS Made Simple meets most, if not all, those requirements. I've done some searches and I know CMS Made Simple does some of the stuff I want but needed some help making sure. So if you could give me some feedback I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!
Some of the Requirements Mentioned:
1. Revision Control
2. Preview Pages
3. Easy to Edit and Navigate
4. Load Fast
5. Shared Content Across Pages
6. Page Locking during Edit (sort-of like check-in and check-out)
7. Password Protected Pages
8. LDAP Supported
Is CMS Made Simple Right for Me?
Re: Is CMS Made Simple Right for Me?
Hello,
1. Not in 1.2. I see "Content versioning" in 2.0 on the roadmap.
2. Yes. (but only the main {content} block is previewed, if there are several the other {content} blocks are not previewed).
3. Try to see if it matches your meaning of "easy". But I would say yes.
4. Depends of the hosting context. 1.2 doesn't seem to have performance issues and has caching options, tips and module. 2.0 has full caching features.
5. If your PageRank doesn't fear "duplicate content", see if GCB (global content blocks) are want you are looking for. 2.0 seems even more blocks oriented. 1.2 news articles can be displayed on any pages.
6. Not in 1.2 but as for first point the 2.0 roadmap shows "Workflow/Content Approval" which should do it.
7. Yes, with Front End Users (FEU) and Custom Content (CC) modules.
8. Yes, not in core in 1.2, but there are tips.
You should try CMSms and see. A try doesn't take long and may help you define priorities in the feature list if it is not yet sorted. The default official package has sample content to explain and demonstrate things. It is worthier than my words.

Pierre, can you give us an overview of the caching features in 2.0?

Re: Is CMS Made Simple Right for Me?
Hello,
I'm sorry, I can't : I have read in the forum a post from Ted claiming the implementation of full page caching (and multilang) in 2.0 is done. This is all I have. If you can try the SVN, you can see for yourself. Or some alpha could be here before May ?

Re: Is CMS Made Simple Right for Me?
For revision control, 1.2 does have the ability to force a page review before it is published so the author of a page cannot make it active. But there is no versioning system.
