Is CMS Made Simple For Me?

Post by russellmcox »

I have a fully developed web site created by contract programmers.
At my request they have allocated html cells on the home page and 2 other pages where I want to be able to place CMS information.
I want to allow Content Publishers to place Industry News, Polls, RSS Feeds, etc. in these cells.
I do not want to use CMS for any other part of the site.
Ideally, I would like the programmers to do whatever they need to do to allow a CMS program to target these html cells with independantly maintained content.

Is CMS Made Simple the product that can fullfil these requirements?

The CMS is meant for you to use so that you don't have to rely so much on the contract programmers making all those changes. It will allow you to make those changes yourself. Obviously, if you don't have any skills in CSS or if you need a module to be created that doesn't already exist, then you'll want to stick with your contract programmers. However, using the CMS means your site will be run entirely from it (in most cases) and you can't really cherry pick certain aspect out of the CMS to use in a regular page. Obviously, the source code is there so you can use it as a guide if you want to create something similar but do contact the original authors and make sure all the permissions and licensing information are sorted out.
