Man I'm on fire for getting errors today...

Ok I figured it out...(it's least what I have been seeing) for some odd reason the session times out, Now I work in a tablature workflow in the same browser that the clients use... just for fun I wonder  what people think I'm working from... any ways... as I move through tabs to edit, mind you I’ve been edit that way for ever and it’s the only way to be fast,  if one tab link fails/timed-out what have you (think it's timed out) then I have to login in to that page for that tab... now I don't always get the same "?_s_=ef3c91d7" now if I logged in and start working again I forget that I got logged out and move to another open tab.. oh no I still have the old "?_s_=ef3c91d7" not the new one I got when I logged in... so ... when I click a link, I'm clicking with "?_s_=ef3c91d7" appended to the uri.. but that not the new one so I get logged out again... ... this is a fun game... now I'd have to remember to close all windows at once after timing out (would be nice if I could set that) or repeatedly fall to the miss matching "?_s_=ef3c91d7"....

I hope that is fixed in 1.5.2 ;) and hope that helps...

Ok another times it seems to do it is if I click out of the window to lets say dreamweaver then back... click straight to log-in...  it's that or switching back and forth through GCB and UDTs... makes working on this http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,28609.msg137348.html#msg137348 dreadful... I'm so close.. but I'm having to brute force my way through... which needs a lot of moving around fast and making tons of small changes and inching forward, thats alot of clicking.... so this issue is killing me... really... lol

no one else?  I really must be a magnet for it today... lol...

1.5.1 - San Juan - Install UPper aND Lower cASE ??

Post by geraldo »

Installing 1.5.1. from scratch I'am wondering about the usage of some uPPERcASE and LOWERcase symbols.
Unfortunately when tested on stupid Windows-XP (XAMP) this will cause no problems.
But trying to install on a LinuxServer it's not working

Especially Labels like CMS, CmsInstallPage, CMS_Compiler

Some warnings I can notice:
OBS: After the first error, I've installed by trial and error, so not all of the following will be original stuff!

Warning: Smarty::require_once(CMS_Compiler.class.php) [smarty.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/lib/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1455

Warning: CMSInstaller::require_once(/home/www/install/lib/classes/cmsInstallpage1.class.php) [cmsinstaller.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/install/lib/classes/cmsinstaller.class.php on line 115

I can rember:
- /home/www/install/lib/classes
  cmsinstaller.class.php
  CmsInstallPage1.class.php
/home/www/lib/smarty
CMS_Compiler.class.php
Smarty_Compiler.class.php

There is a any patch around ??

Delete all folders and reupload with a good ftp client (ex: filezilla) or if you have shell access uncompress your tar.gz

After upgrading a site from 1.4.1 to 1.5.1, everything went smoothly but...

System Information (under Site Admin) lists several installed modules twice! I checked the modules folder, but no dupes there, nor in Modules (under Extensions) nor in database (MySQL). Is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks!

It's a simple select query.
Check with a sql tools the table [cms_]modules

Hi Alby,

Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it!

I checked the "modules" table and saw the duplicates. I assume I can just "drop" the dupes via phpAyAdmin. I'll also assume that the dupes were created from unsuccessful installs via the Module Manager?

Thanks again!

Following Marks suggestion I would like to add my own small list of bugs I've found on version 1.5.1, as already stated in this thread:

Bug #1 is an older one from former versions.
Within the page edit view, the preview function doesn't work properly for templates which have more than one content block. The main content block (content_en) does show up in the preview, all other self-defined content blocks don't. This bug is reported back to at least 2006 and still around. It would be so nice to have it fixed.

Bug #2:
Whenever you use "internal Link" as a content-type for a page, you can't choose the very first child in the hierarchy underneath. For example from 1.0 choosing 1.1 is impossible, choosing 1.2 is fine - the 1.1 won't show up in the page tree. This happens with every node in the tree, regardless of the hierarchy depth.

Bug #3 occurs only on a hoster that doesn't allow fopen and php_uname():
A clean installation or an update is not possible due to heavy installation errors during step 2

Code: Select all

Warning: php_uname() has been disabled for security reasons in [/ourpath]/cms/install/lib/classes/CMSUpgradePage2.class.php on line 51
Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in [/ourpath]/cms/install/lib/classes/CMSUpgradePage2.class.php on line 51/cms/lib/test.functions.php on line 1138
Warning: stream_get_meta_data(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in [/ourpath]/cms/install/lib/classes/CMSUpgradePage2.class.php on line 51/cms/lib/test.functions.php on line 1142
The system information is not working on this hoster, only a blank page shows up. So unfortunately I can't provide you with further details about the system settings or with a bug report because even with debug mode on, the system settings are blank. But I've extracted some interesting details through phpinfo:

Code: Select all

SecureSSI Based on PHP 5.2.8
MySQL 4.1.22

CMSms Installation  1.5.1
Modules
MenuManager    1.5.3
News    2.9.1
nuSOAP    1.0.1
Search    1.5.2

Xinha    0.1.4
FileManager     0.4.3

PHP Info
allow_url_fopen	Off
allow_url_include	Off
always_populate_raw_post_data	Off
memory_limit	32M
output_buffering	4096
output_handler	no value
register_globals	On
safe_mode	Off
Tokenizer Support 	enabled

magic_quotes_runtime	Off
session.cache_expire 180
session.cache_limiter nocache
session.cookie_lifetime 3600
session.gc_maxlifetime 	1200
session.name 	PHPSESSID
This happened after an upgrade from 1.2.5 to 1.5.1. We had version 1.4.1 running quite flawlessly on the same server, so this errors belong to version 1.5.1.

Bug #4: Session time outs, forced system logouts and needed re-login
Regarding upgrades: After this upgrade every once in a while we get logged out and have to login again. This happened especially with the news system and the user group settings. I think the sessions get terminated far too soon, although the system settings for session cache expire are set to 180, the same value as the local installation which works completely okay. I've noticed that this happened when there isn't any action within the browser window. Say you need some time so just look at your admin page, then you click on a menu section - and off you go to re-login. This is really painfull, but only occurs on the server with the above limitations, not at home on a local installation!

Bug #5: Strange errors within news system
This is really strange: Whenever one of my co-workers wanted to add a news, they get a pop-up error message:

Code: Select all

ERROR [createSelect]
Can't find the requested dropdown
There was second one right after that error message but I don't have the appropiate screenshot from that. The strange thing about that is: I don't get these errors within my own browsers, neither Internet Explorer nor Firefox. Both of them get these two messages regardless of their browsers. It has nothing to do with user restrictions, we've checked this by switching login accout. They used my admin account with the same results. I don't understand this. I've de-installed and re-installed news module and re-entered all news (weren't much so it was okay for now), but with same results. Maybe you will find out more about this.

Sorry for reporting so late but all of theses errors occured during the two last days, so this is my first opportunity to report them.

Thank you for your time and effort, dear devTeam!
Best regards

We've discussed this numerous times.... and there is no real easy way to fix this without a major re-design.... so we'll probably just disable this feature in any subsequent 1.x releases.
I spent 15 minutes trying to reproduce this yesterday with no success.   I could link to whatever child page I wanted.

This does sound like a real issue... .but we're getting ready to release 1.5.2 today :(
Can you please file a bug report so that we can keep track of this for future 1.x releases.
Bug #4: Session time outs, forced system logouts and needed re-login
Regarding upgrades: After this upgrade every once in a while we get logged out and have to login again. This happened especially with the news system and the user group settings. This is really painfull, but only occurs on the server with the above limitations, not at home on a local installation!
Others have been reporting problems like this too, but the dev team hasn't noticed it.   We're going to have to wait till we can find out exactly what the server configuration issue is that is causing this issue.
Bug #5: Strange errors within news system
This is really strange: Whenever one of my co-workers wanted to add a news, they get a pop-up error message:

Code: Select all

This issue is gonna have to be reproducable.... Unfortunately we are gonna have to wait until we can get some clear steps to reproduce this error.    Maybe it has something to do with the desktop PC configuration and not specifically the browser.  I don't know I'm just pulling at straws... but either way, a screen capture would be a good start... then we can see exact error messages and try tracing things back.

Hello Calguy!
Thank you for spending some of your precious time to help!

Disabling the preview feature would be really sad, because most clients need this. They want to have a look on the finished page before they save and publish it. Same goes with the news system which doesn't provide a preview either. It would be wonderful to have that in a future version ;)

The Internal Link
I apologize for not being specific enough - maybe it's a feature, not a bug: Whenever you choose another parent page starting from the recent page, you can't choose the very first child page or it's children. This happens also with the original "content" type, not only with the "internal link" type. I've included a screenshot. Maybe it's just me, that I haven't expected the system to behave that way :) Sorry if it's meant to be that way and you have wasted your time  :-\

The weird error pop-up
has vanished according to my co-workers some minutes ago - after I have uninstalled the news system and re-installed and re-populated it again. I'm glad for this, so this must have been an issue regarding the upgrade from 1.2.5 to 1.5.1. I've included a screenshot of the first error popup. It started after clicking "Add Article" Sorry that it doesn't have a windows system header :)

The session time-out / forced re-login
It's clear now that every three minutes and x seconds the system force us to re-login. Especially whenever there was some time of inactivity between two menu item calls. This is pure pain and forcing me to work offline and to apply any changes afterwards via phpMyAdmin and database dump by hand. I'm quite sure that it has something to do with the system restrictions of the hoster.

Is there any tool that I could use to provide you with the needed information to find out more about the server configuration? The system information page doesn't work.

I will register as a user and file the bug with the php_uname() function.

Anyway - thank you for your time and effort!
Best wishes

See everybody.... this communication is a perfect example of how problems SHOULD be reported.

Why can't most of the rest of you do that?

and thank you Amandra.

Re: CMS Made Simple 1.5.1 - San Juan

Post by Amendra »

Hello DevTeam! :)

Regarding my "3 minutes session timeout" bug reported on January 6th: Finally I've managed to get more system information hoping this would be useful for you. I deactivated every line in systeminfo.php one by one to find out why I got only a white page.

The problem regarding the white page was this line:
#176 - $tmp[1]['test_remote_url'] = testRemoteFile(0, 'test_remote_url', '', lang('test_remote_url_failed'));

After deactivating this line the system information tool worked fine again, it only reported two errors on some php functions:
Warning: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons in [path] on line 207
Warning: php_uname() has been disabled for security reasons in [path] on line 224

Now here is the (almost) complete system info:
----------------------------------------------
Cms Version: 1.5.1

Installed Modules:

    * MenuManager: 1.5.3
    * News: 2.9.1
    * nuSOAP: 1.0.1
    * Search: 1.5.2
    * ThemeManager: 1.0.8
    * ConfigGUI: .2
    * Xinha: 0.1.4
    * FileManager: 0.4.3

Config Information:

    * php_memory_limit:
    * process_whole_template: true
    * max_upload_size: 16000000
    * default_upload_permission: 664
    * assume_mod_rewrite: false
    * page_extension:
    * internal_pretty_urls: true
    * use_hierarchy: false

Php Information:

    * phpversion: 5.2.8
    * md5_function: On (True)
    * gd_version: 2
    * tempnam_function: On (True)
    * magic_quotes_runtime: Off (False)
    * memory_limit: 32M
    * max_execution_time: 10
    * safe_mode: Off (False)
    * session_save_path: No check because open basedir active

Server Information:

    * Server Api: apache2handler
    * Server Db Type: MySQL (mysql)
    * Server Db Version: 4.1.22
----------------------------------------------

The ugly session timeout problem still exists and kills our current session every 3 minutes without starting a new one by itself. Instead it forces us to re-login. Very annoying, working as usual is not possible under these circumstances.

Oh, and one question: Is it possible to extend the max_execution_time? 10 seconds seems to be far too short, I guess.

I hope I could provide some useful informations and look forward to a fast fix.

Thank you so much!

I would immediately change the host. They seem to implement inadequate measures providing false sense of security (and at the same time using outdated server software?!), in meantime disrupting the normal operation of many PHP-scripts. Does not look like someone who knows what he's doing.

Thanks for the advice - we are considering it seriously but want to test the promised update to 1.5.2 first. If that does no good than we will change the host. The strange thing is: Up to version 1.4.1 everything went smooth with that hoster. Let's get fingers crossed...
