Re: A.J. Hall ebooks (mobile first - responsive design)

carasmo that is a good point on high res images, this will try and ensure users get the best image, given the network connection and their display, but I'd be inclined to be more worried about too big images on smaller screens. e.g. are serving the same size photo to a HDTV and a phone and just scal...

Re: A.J. Hall ebooks (mobile first - responsive design)

We have now implemented the required EU cookie advisory on A.J. Hall's website . Basically we just followed the BBC website idea of " we assume it is all OK but here is a button and a link to further information about our use of cookies and how to disable them. " We think the link to the e...

Re: Driveway gates contractor site

Could not see the flash, so maybe some fall back for the increasing number of non-flash browsers? Big whole in the site otherwise. Re: Website of a pub in Eindhoven, NL - Hoogste Tijd

Quite a few errors from the validator for both CSS and HTML, but I like the design. I also like the idea of showing the video/still feeds of what it is like, shame you have to show it when empty.

Re: A.J. Hall ebooks (mobile first - responsive design)

Hi applejack, I can only agree with you that your design will be based on clients, audience, content and of course money ;-) However, I don't think you can assume people do not want to do stuff with your site on a 'non-desktop device' or indeed assume people will have desktops. The way we consume th...

Re: A.J. Hall ebooks (mobile first - responsive design)

Also somebody asked if we used a CSS framework or template for AJ's website, the answer is no not really, but it is loosely based on Joni's splendid Golden Grid System . This is a sort of 'em grid' based around the border-box box sizing. It is not really a grid or a framework, but if you use the Les...
