Just to update the post I am using full admin rights with the client at the moment. However I have had an idea that it may be link to another issue I have just posted. My clients now added some events. If i were to uninstall and re-install i guess id lose these. Is there a way I can manually make the needed modifications? for instants - download module and manually update certain files? and manually add database modifications as needed? I found this soultion - but...

Not shown in the list. And I've just updated to cg calendar 1.9.7 to see if that provided a fix. but it didn't.

Thanks for your help. the issue wasn't a mis-configured config parameter but a mis-pelt one. not sure how that happened but all working fine now.
