I wonder if {sortby='f:sortorder'} or some variation has to be added to the summary template? Or Page template?

Hi we need help trying to make the sort order work on our products. You'll have to forgive me I am not a programmer. I am trying to figure out where the hierarchy templates are located. Reading more and more I seem to think they in the database itself? I wanted to roll back the templates to a previous version but I can't roll the database back.
