Thanks to you all for your input - it was in fact my own stupid fault as i had not upped the PHP settings on the server. Many of my writes and sizes were too small.

Thanks for all of your help so far I have been into the Module and tags and no X etc Here is a better account of what is happening now is that when i try to download a new module and instal via the "download and install" link on the module manage alphabetic page i get a blank screen appear...

put a tick by simple_navigation.tpl (read only) in menu section and it worked!!!!!

Looks like the problem - i don't have wcs_template - topmenu in there at all only wcs_template - submenu
