ok so managed to correct the styling issue using .activeparent

But still struggling to work out how to get the parent link to navigate straight to the first child page, anyone??

Thanks its good to hear feedback,  I dont think design is my strong point, but starting to design with the grid 960 in mind and hopefully the whole process will eventually be a lot quicker and slicker once I get over the initial learning curve.

I have solved it I had put the grid css in by mistake and this was causing some conflict, all better now thanks.
