Hi I installed XAMPP today and it seems to be installed okay. I am doing this from my computer, what is the best way of going about developing CMS then on a standalone machine? Do I need to be connected to a web server?

I am using Vista and would prefer not to install Linux O/S. When attempting to use WinXP, I received the same issues.
