We're having a dev team meeting tomorrow afternoon. I'll discuss it with everyone. This, and the solved topic mod and figure out what to do.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
Keep in mind, too, that we're testing out different spam fighting techniques at the same time. If we start to find that the post moderation queue doesn't have a lot of spam in it, then we may drop it, it make it less posts, or whatever. We're trying to find the right balance and aren't afraid to adj...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
Ok, it's working now. It's not perfect, because it's pulling the topic= in as well, but it works enough for me. The final rules ended up being: location ~ ^/index.php { if ($args ~ "topic=([0-9]+)") { set $topic_id $1; rewrite ^/index\.php /viewtopic.php?t=$topic_id permanent; } rewrite in...

Re: Solved Thread Mod
I'm not sure I see how it's different. Because they can't put Solved in the search?

Solved Thread Mod
One of the features that we added when we switched to phpBB was an easy way to make a thread as "Solved". This way there is a consistent way of handling this, and it also makes it painless to do. Here's the steps. 1. Make a thread asking a question or explaining a problem. It should be pol...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
I know that mods are not so "pleasant" to implement by phpBB, however, probably, sometimes later you can look into this mod Primary Notify This mod can significantly reduce the load of board and improve performance. It puts the text of the post in the email notification (like it was in SM...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
Thanks a lot Ted, that is really helpful. I already updated the new wiki, as far as I can see the old wiki is no longer needed (noone else contributed on 31th december). Great, thanks. I'll leave it up for the moment, just in case DrCss wants to grab any CSS/image assets he might need. Otherwise, I...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
A really good theme is 'subsilver2' .. It looks like the phpbb2 default theme, but made for phpbb3.. It looks way more like 'normal' forum software... An example is here: http://foas.us/forum Looks nice. Honestly, I don't even want to mess with it anymore, since we're going to have a custom theme i...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
Yesterday I worked till about 5PM dutch time, which is about 11AM at your place? Those changes are not in the current wiki. Ah, yes. That sounds correct. I knew I missed a step in the migration... I should've taken the old site down right away. Honestly, I thought once I disabled the forum, I didn'...

Re: Server/Software Upgrades
I like phpBB much more than SMF, however, it's awful for me that the old links do not work any more. It seems like if anyone had pointed to another thread that included solution, the link will not be rewritten and thus the solution cannot be quickly found :o . I did write a couple of rewrite rules ...

Server/Software Upgrades
Sorry for the downtime today. One of the things on our list of items to handle over the holiday week was moving some infrastructure to a new server, so we've been hacking away it for the past couple of days. Server Our original linode server was running an ancient version of Debian that was getting ...
