CMSMadeSimple provided a great intro to CMS technology

My daughter is completing her degree in Computer Graphic Design and at my suggestion chose to use CMSMadeSimple to learn what a CMS does and how to use it.  She is a designer and so approached her sites from the opposite direction that I have done.  She had not had any previous  experience with any ...

Fashion Site using a Magazine Format - www.thread.co.nz

The Thread website http://www.thread.co.nz, was build originally from v1.4 over a year ago. It is based almost entirely on the News ( with some significant modifications ) and the Poll modules. It is worth noting that I use PostgreSQL not mySQL as the database backend. I am not a designer and left t...

Re: multiple sites on 1 install

Has anyone come up with what needs to be done to have one install, multiple databases etc as suggested here. This is how we run typo3, just the one install and each site has a symlink to typo3_src. Can this be done with cmsms, if so what needs to be symlinked. At present, I am installing all the fil...

Re: Email Database List

I have just had a request for a similar functionality.  My customer initially wanted just a newsletter but now wants to setup a database with subscriber demographics so that she can email offers and product news to people based on the demographics i.e. gender. age, locality etc. I started of looking...

Re: Preloading alternative content during install

That is the approach I have been heading towards.  I was wondering how the extra.sql file was created in the first place. I had hoped that one of the developers had a script that could be run on the database that would output the appropriate records in the appropriate format.  This was on the assump...

Preloading alternative content during install

Is there a recommended way of generating an alternative 'extra.sql' file from a CMS install that I can use for future installs ? My daughter has constructed a sample site, which includes pages, css and templates.  I would like to be able to load this in place of the current content that gets install...

[solved] Ordering by popularity in News Module

Is there a means of returning articles ordered by number of times the articles has been read ? I am assuming this is going to involve extending the module as there is nothing I can see that would support such a scheme.  I am trying to determine if anyone has already been down this road before a look...

Article selection in the News module

Is there any existing mechanism to select articles based on a user defined field.  I have added a field called 'editors_choice' which is a checkbox/boolean, I now want to be able to select the articles using something like {news editors_choice="1"}

Determining which template is in use

I have a bunch of tags in a couple of global_common blocks, Two block are identical but for one .  These are included in different templates.  Is there some way I can put an if..then..else that can detect which template the global_block is being included in and choose the appropriate automatically.
