Can you point me toward a theme that, out of the box, builds dropdown menus similar to the new site layout?

Is there a theme available that produces the new cmsmadesimple.org site layout look, menu, etc.?

I'm in the same situation as the original poster . . . have there been any enhancements to security / page / site hierarchy?

I was having the exact same problems (preview not displaying anything, front end didn't match editing screens, etc.)

Now in the process of clearing the tmp/templates_c directory of almost *7000 files*?

Is this standard? Any way to automatically clean these up?
