Thanks so much Jeff - that worked! someone told me I had to have an 'index.html' file in that directory for some reason (when it was in a test site) and so I guess I thought it still had to be there!
Anyway - thanks heaps!
cheers

[solved] URL still has IP address in it, plus one other question
Nearly there - you'll all be glad to hear! Just a couple of final things to sort out. I've got the site live - http://www.heywoodconsulting.com.au/index.php But if I just put in http://www.heywoodconsulting.com.au/ - nothing comes up. I'm sure this is something obvious that I need to do, but any ide...

Re: More problems moving CMS database
Hi, first of all i think you should migrate to utf-8 (but it is not neccesary ) http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,15578.msg160093.html#msg160093 I looked at the instructions in that link and it looks far too complicated for a user like me I'm afraid!! It looks like you are trying to cr...

Re: More problems moving CMS database
Hmm - I've gone back and checked. I may not have set it up correctly with full privileges. I've re-done it all and made extra sure she has 'all privileges'. It also appears I can't have a username in MySQL with a '2' at the end of it, which may have confused me! Can't go any further from work () - w...

More problems moving CMS database
I really hate having to display my lack of understanding yet again on a topic you guys helped me with before - see http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,33147.0.html ... But - although I successfully uploaded my CMS site to my test site and worked on it there, now that I'm pretty much finis...

Re: Anchor links not working
Hi Morten I'm only a beginner and this may not help - but are you using straight html anchor tags? If you are, then they won't work (I know from experience!) You have to go to Extensions - Tags, and use the anchor tag code that is there. Use the help files for info on how to use them. Sorry if you'v...

Re: Instructions for moving to new location - do these apply when moving from local
Well, thank you everyone! I have now uploaded it successfully, and it's there! And I've documented everything that different people told me to do here which has helped me, for the next time - thank you. I did get various smarty errors during the setup phase, but it still all went through successfull...

Re: Instructions for moving to new location - do these apply when moving from local
Ah ... no I haven't! Thank you for clarifying what I should have done. I will do that this evening and report back! I didn't realise I had to create a new MySQL database on the db server. I did create a new user, but that was all. What you said about your setup on your local machine - that in fact i...

Re: Instructions for moving to new location - do these apply when moving from local
Hi again Still having problems. I followed your suggestions - copied the install folder into my cms folder (inside the folder with all the cms files). Then I went to the MySQL databases section of my CPanel, and created a user. Then I tried to import the cms database which I'd exported from MAMP (vi...

Re: Instructions for moving to new location - do these apply when moving from local
OK - it's late at night here and I'm going to do it tomorrow, but just one more question on databases. So, I have to create one in my CPanel do I? (I've looked at it, and that seems to be the only option) Would I give it the same name as the one I've set up locally? And then import that database int...

Re: Instructions for moving to new location - do these apply when moving from local
Hi there - back again and of course I'm having problems ... :) I did the 'move to a new server' option and made what changes I could work out to the config.php file. I uploaded it all into a new folder called 'cms' on my website. But when I tried to open the site http://www.greendoorwebsites.com/cm...

[SOLVED] Instructions for moving to new location -
I've been working on my first CMS MS site locally - using MAMP. But because I've come up with a problem I need someone else's eyes to look at I'm going to upload it to a test folder on my main website. So, I've never uploaded a CMS to a server before. Are the instructions in the documentation, for m...

Re: Menu manager questions (newbie)
Thank you so much for that! I have been tied up for the past couple of days (not literally!) with a new day job which involves a lot of travelling. So I haven't had a chance to do any more, or even read here till now. I will try what you suggested to create a new menu template - it may be one eveni...
