community builder, social networking site

Post by juicyfruit »

hi,

Does CMSMS have a "community builder" capability like joomla or drupal.

Specifically, to allow members to have their own ie. homepage. I see this as a way to sell feature ads on the site.

Where can I find more information about it, what keys words should I look for?

Also, if these members can sign up for a fee.

I have seen these threads:

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 672.0.html

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 640.0.html

Am I on the right track?

Thanks in advance.

cheers
Eddie

Some portal-like features are possible with the FrontEndUsers module, CustomContent, and a few other third-party modules (check the development section of this site).. if those don't meet your needs; you can always roll-your-own using the CMSMS module API... but out-of-the-box, CMSMS is not a portal system (ala the "nukes" and others).

as kermit has said, anything can be achieved. to what extent will depend on your abilities and expectations.

im working on something similar with frontendusers, customcontent, selfregistration and feulisting.

where somone can sign up and edit their own profile which is viewed as a subpage. at this stage it is pretty crude but using these modules it has given me a base to build on.
