Question on script regarding users and membership areas

Hi-

I am looking to create a website for a business association and one of the things we need is a searchable membership directory and the ability to have users sign up either for free or for a paid membership. 

Will CMS made simple work for this type of situation and are there any existing sites like this setup ?
