3rd party stats app

Post by Jack @ PharSide »

Not sure if this is off topic but it does effect all of us.

Can anyone recommend a good third party stats program that counts dynamic pages like CMSMS? I have looked all over and haven't found anything good yet. One of my clients said her hosting company's stats program can not differentiate between the pages within the system. Any ideas on this? She is using Visitor Stats module but not even close to what she needs. I was thinking some sort of PHP script that counts hits via a script or calculates hits via access logs. What are you doing about this?

Thanks..

Have you looked at AWStats?  It's been awhile since I've used it, but I remember there being a setting about dynamic pages.

Also, have you looked into setting up Pretty URLs?  Then you won't have the dynamic URLs in the access logs.

Hello,

Yes, this is off topic, it is not CMSms specific.

I agree with nivekiam that pretty URLS + access logs + AWstats should do it whatever the software behind the webserver. And whatever the browser config (GA requires Javascript which I disable by default in my browsers)
20th century's tactics still works ;-)
