How can I install simpilified chinese language? Topic is solved

hi ,

I download cmsmadesimple-0.11.2 and installed it .
From the cvs log, I learned that cms has supported simplified chinese .
The problem is that : there is no  simplified chinese files in admin/lang.

I tried to download zh_CN/admin.inc.php and zh_CN.nls.php 

And now got error like:

can't read file : lib/convert/ConvertTables/gb2312

Any suggestions ? thank you .

The Chinese translation is REALLLLLY out of date.  At the present time, I'm looking for someone to start a Chinese language project so that we can get it into an upcoming release.  With the translation system that we have in place, it should be a lot easier now, even for a non-technical person to tackle.

I really really want to join to translate cmsmadesimple into simplified chinese . But recently I have lots of work to do . Would you please tell me how much time someone should spend in finishing the translation ?  By the way , it is rather slow to visit cmsmadesimple.org .

Downloading the lang files
Have you used SVN? The easiest way to download the files you have translated is to do an SVN checkout. For this you can use a tool like TortoiseSVN, that you can read about how to use here.

But instead of the old examples in that page, use this URL to checkout (and later update) all translations: http://svn.cmsmadesimple.org/svn/translatecenter

You can also click on the above link and browse through the language files and download the Chinese files for the admin and each module that has been translated, one by one, if you don't want to use an SVN tool.

When I entered the Chinese language I miswrote the locale as zh_cn instead of zh_CN. Wishy will change that, but if you download it yourself first, please change that in your file.


zh_CN.nls.php
As Chinese is a new language in CMSMS, I think there also needs to be a file called zh_CN.nls.php in the admin/lang directory, that contains information about that language, so that CMSMS knows that Chinese also can be selected in the CMSMS Admin Panel. Wishy will also create this file soon, otherwise you can just look at the other nls files to see what they should look like.


Uploading Chinese language files for others to download
To make it easier for other people to use the Chinese language files before the next release, you can also upload these files to the Simplified Chinese language project in the CMSMS Forge. Make a zip or tar file of the language files and make a release, which you can read more about how to here.

The nls file is already created. It can be found here.  Just save it into the admin/lang directory.

I asked about the translation tool, because westis tells to liuyi to use SVN, and he's not mentioning the tool...

maybe it was only to commit the already existing files, but now, can liuyi also use the translation tool like any "latin-letters"-language translators?

Pat, liuyi has already used the Translation Center to translate the entire admin file (and parts of the news module) to Chinese and it's working well. Now he was asking how he can use the files that he already translated on his CMSMS pages and then he has to use SVN to download them (or download them by browsing SVN).

ok I was confused by the "and later update" in:

Ah, I meant that the first time one is doing SVN checkout, to get all the files in the Translation Center. But from then on one is instead doing SVN update to get the additions and changes in the language files.
