Not applying and submitting

Post by MJT35 »

Yes, its exactly as listed. Everytime I go to update and submit new content or edit existing content I obviously go to apply and submit as usual, but in this case everytime I go to do so it just takes me to my home page. Like my actual site. Currently using cms version 1.8.2. I thought about using a newer version of cms but I was told by a friend that this can overide the content created by the first client. please help me out here.
Thanks,
-Martin

CMS Made Simple 1.8.2 Released On: 2010-08-13 01:39
Please don't ask us to go 5 years back in time.

There's good documentation on how to upgrade here: http://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/upgrading ... nformation and here: http://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/upgrading/old-versions

An upgrade will never alter any content nor database-templates

What Jos says. Plus, your website might have stopped saving properly because of an upgrade in PHP version from your host? Anyway, whatever the cause, you've got away without upgrading your CMS for nearly 5 years. Now you have no choice.

Question, should I upgrade straight from 1.8 to current? or do I need to upgrade to 1.9, then 1.10, etc?

I already gave that link. Maybe you have overread this part on top of the page:
Though many experienced users have been able to upgrade directly from an old version of CMSMS to the most recent version, it is not advised.

Please read carefully the instructions on the given links.
All versions < 1.8.2 have the following text:
Upgrade all third party modules and plugin tags.
Download the files from the Forge and upload them to the corresponding folder at the server.
For modules start the upgrade procedure in the admin panel at Extentions >> Modules.
"There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary... and those who don't."
