the smarty code tests the $_SERVER['HTTPS'] variable which is:

Set to a non-empty value if the script was queried through the HTTPS protocol.

Note: Note that when using ISAPI with IIS, the value will be off if the request was not made through the HTTPS protocol.

This all just started happening this weekend.

Message from Media Temple support.

We're not aware of any configuration changes made on the (gs) Grid-Service that would cause your code to attempt to use https instead of http for all links. My suggestion at this point is to verify that everything in the settings and database is correct, and ensure there is no https anywhere unless expected. You are both having the same recent trouble at MediaTemple. You can't both be wrong! Maybe tackle them together?

Sugna, what Grid Cluster and Storage Segment are you on?

I'm on Cluster 10, Storage Segment 4.

I've done the same entries in config.php...some functions in the admin still have a mind of their own and will revert to https.

I've added config['admin_url'] = 'http:// ... as well.

I've spent upwards of an hour on the phone with Mediatemple and they claim it's not them. I've started migrating sites off of Mediatemple. Between this and their sudden inability to control obvious spam, I think I've had enough.

Well...all of a sudden everything is magically 'fixed' on my end. I left a couple sites without modifying config.php and they are all back to working normal now on my end.

Too little too late to keep me with Mediatemple...i've already started transferring domains to a new VPS so I'm not about to stop now. To their credit, this was probably the longest stretch I've tolerated shared hosting.
