I searched the forum for auto responders, I did not find anything recent... but I found a way (I think) that may work, and wanted to get some input from you guys.

I tried several options on the form builder fields, but none are gave me the auto-responder function. The last one I tried was the *Email results based on frontend fields but it was giving me an error and didn't use it. However the *Email to User-Supplied Email Address looks like did the job... but I had to remove the email address field, and replace it with this one.

There are several things wrong with the way I am doing it... it will send an auto email response to the person filling out the form, BUT it uses their own email address as the sender and their name... I want to be able to say that it's coming from the site and a correct email in case they want to reply. The other issue is that whatever email is put into this field, does not get transferred to the form submission email that the site owner gets...!

Is anyone else using the Form Builder as an auto responder? if so, which fields are you using. Any modules you would recommend?

Thanks for the input

This is NOT to be used for SPAM... Its for a political website that is trying to send additional information when someone fills out a form... Do you know of a way to do this auto responder?

Thanks

Rod I am not saying that it is meant to be for spammers but any form which sends a copy to a user rather than say the admin or email autoresponder can be used by spammers.

So do yourecommend anything to acomplish this? It could come from admin or whatever, and its not a copy of the form, its a prewritten email to provide additional info to the user... How can I acomplish this? I see websites automated like this all the time
Including Obama's, can you help?

If it is pre written information for the user who has just filled out the form then why bother sending that info as an email. Why not just show that information on the post submission page.

If you really want to send it as an email then you would either need to write a UDT to place in the submission page template and pass the users name, email to it. Or redirect the data to a php script then redirect back to the thank you page or do the same thing using ajax.

We thought about the submission display... but they feel it would be more of a personal touch if they received an email. Thanks for your response.
