Anyone using CMSMS for Ecommerce

Post by fearmydesign »

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has any feedback on CMSMS as an ecommerce site? Any comparisons/opinions to platforms like Magento, ZenCart or even OsCommerce?

I am just looking into choosing an ecommerce platform and would love to go with CMSMS, so I am just trying to get some suggestions or hear about others experiences with CMSMS Ecommerce.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Cheers

We used Calguy's Suite in a CMSMS site for a non-profit client so they could ask for and receive donations online. Their requirements didn't include many of the features available in this suite of modules, so have limited experience with that.

But for what they needed, everything worked very nicely!

Thank you guys, I appreciate the feedback. I will look into it further and maybe develop a test site so I can get familiar with CalGuys ecom modules which seem to be best choice.

Anyone else? I'd love to hear more feedback.

Cheers ;)

Depends on how complex or not you need it to be such as shipping options, payment gateways and a million and one other things. CMSMS is not a proper e-commerce system comparable with those you mentioned and no doubt never will be. Magneto etc may well be over the top for what you want and a steep learning curve. Take a look at Opencart and Woocommerce which uses Wordpress.

I use BigCommerce hosted solution. See http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/viewtopi ... =4&t=66774 for how I integrate CMSMS and BC.

i use cmsms_shop_skin_helper http://www.studio-owens.com/code/cmsms- ... helper.htm and third party e-commerce software. works very nice.
the downside: two CMS installations. e-commerce login and CMSMS login difficult if not impossible to synchronise, also, accessing info from e-commerce database from CMSMS requires custom scripts (and vice versa).

Rab, Would it be possible to get more information on how you set this up? I also need to figure out how to do a donation page for a non-profit...
