I've made a thread twice in the "Tips & Tricks" forum about how to customise the Image Manager in the admin interface. I've provided instructions, screenshots and copies of the 3 files that I modified. The first time it was deleted I private messaged M@rtijn but received no reply so I posted it again. Today I find that the second one has been deleted. Why?

I assume your tip is to customize Core files? Posting suggestions or how to's to change Core files is against the Rules.

Not everyone that read this Forum also know what they do and someone following your changes with exactly this "dont know what i do" knowledge will come back some time and ask for support cause due to changes and later upgrades something might break.

Then most possibly you will not be around to help that guy and Moderators and DEV Team will have to take care of supporting that person, but in most cases that person will not even bother to mention that he changed core files without knowing what he does, so anyone who will try to help that person will spend time for nothing to figure out at the end that actual problem was a core hack and not a bug or anything.

You get the idea?

ah, yeah, it modified 2 CSS files and images.php. I did look through the rules thread but saw nothing about this. Now you've said it's because of a rules violation I found the Hacked Installs thread. Didn't think to read that originally as the title suggested it was about installing customised versions. I know now it seems like that would of made sense to read but it didn't before. Maybe should have a reference to it in the main rules thread.

It would of been nice to get a message telling me why the thread was deleted or at least to of replied to my PM so I didn't waste my time writing the same post again. I'll just post it on my own site instead.

If what you did was to get better functionality from one of the core modules you can always post a Feature Request in the Forge, I changed the title of that thread...

Ha! Good idea, I just did that although I kinda borked it and made a post in the bug report section for the core files. Then, after I hit submit I saw the big button that says "Feature Requests" in the top right. I am becoming Mr Magoo! Here they both are:
