Upgrading from 1.7.1 to 1.10.1

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrading from 1.7.1 to 1.10.1

Post by katea »

I'd like to do an upgrade for someone from 1.7.1 to 1.10.1

Is this doable?

They have ALOT of modules/code and I fear this may be too much of an upgrade.

Will this be OK, or should I do a gradual upgrade?

Thanks for your help.

I haven't yet no.

I only just noticed that it was at 1.10.1

Was quite shocked to see it if I'm honest.

I guess that's a no go then?

I'll take a look of course, but would welcome your expertise Calguy.

Ah, upgrade to 1.9.4.3

OK ... Not a problem.

So now my question is, will there be problems from 1.7.1 to 1.9.4.3?

:-)

- Do a full backup of data and code. Make sure it is restorable!
- Save the list of modules with versions
- Upgrade modules to the latest 1.7.1 supported versions
- Upgrade from 1.7.1 to 1.9.4.3 (check if a direct upgrade is supported)
- Upgrade modules as you go along
- Check that modules are 1.10.x compatible and read the upgrade info
- Upgrade to 1.10.x
- Upgrade modules to the latest
