Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
Personally I would use WordPress if a site is only ever going to be just a blog.
But if you're doing anything else with a blog (e.g. bolting a blog on to an existing page structure) then CMSMS is a good choice IMHO.
I don't recognise "Blogs" listed in your modules - where in the forge (http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/) is that?
Have you tried CGBlogs? I have used that module successfully. It should work with CGFeedback too which allows comments. That's the direction I would be heading.

1.10.3 Released On: 2012-01-09 19:10
CGBlog 1.9.8 Released On: 2012-06-03 19:01 | Release Notes
use an older version of CGBlog, the last release before 1.11. Use the xml way of loading.
However, make a back up first of the DB and the files, make a demo site and try it there. In fact, you should try updating the demo site to the current version of CMSMS and fixing that to work, but it might be a lot of work, I don't know how custom your set up is and you'd likely have to hunt through stuff since smarty changed and you will need to make sure your php is 5.3 or higher for any of CalGuy's modules (as far as I have experienced).
This forum is typically limited to support of the latest versions of CMSMS and the associated modules. One of the many reasons is that it was over a year ago that 1.10.3 came out, that's a 1000 years on the Internet.

Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
hmmm, interesting. I didnt realize I had a pretty go job coming up when I upgrade
I may just look into integrating WP for this reason, I know WP is strong, I just need to make sure my domain structure will work correctly.

Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
I have a site using CGBlog with CGFeedback with email notification working just fine...
What exactly is your problem? By the way it is running 1.11.2.1 but I have it in a subfolder upgraded to all the latest and it still works just fine...

Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
Hi. I'm using CMSMS 1.11.7, I'm going to add a blog so I've installed CGBlog and CGFeedback. But I didn't find any guide/tutorial, could someone suggest me something?
For instance, while trying to configure these modules, I'm asking myself how to connect them:
is it ok to add at the end of the CGBlog's detail template the following two tags?
{CGFeedback key1="Blog" action="summary" key2=$entry->id}
{CGFeedback key1="Blog" key2=$entry->id}
The aim is to see the comments below the article and then the comment form.
Thanks

Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
That is exactly how to do it, most all modules have a help page, go to extensions > modules > help at the right or modules name will take you there...
Re: Ready to throw in the towel with Blog Module
I think my next blog/tutorial will be about creating a blog. It really isn't that hard...
