Hello,

CMS Made Simple is being used as a serious tool. Currently, the development process involves releasing beta versions and gathering bug reports from the community. While this has been a good start, we need to have a more rigorous Quality Assurance project to support CMSMS as we go forward.

As new versions are created, we need have a more formal test process. So we're soliciting help. We opened a Quality Assurance project in the forge and we will

* come up with test plans
* run tests
* report bugs
* regress bug fixes as they come in

We will coordinate this among those who will register in that project.

We need testers to sign up in the QA Team project, then test tasks will be assigned to you. All features of core CMS Made Simple must be checked, with all parameters. We need methodical, analytical, and observant people. The found bugs must be reported to CMSMS project (and module projects) and when a fix is released, the test must be run again (regression testing).

A test site is available to members of the QA Team to test new changes on latest svn revision, and double test on your own install is a plus. Tests on newly added changes and features is particulary important.

We need you! Do you want to contribute?

CMSMS core bug tracker: http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/tracker/?group_id=6

Furthermore, for those who do not want to sign-up to that project, please of course feel free to report bugs in the bug tracker above, or directly here.

Cheers and thanks

thanks a lot Jelle, that would be nice indeed :)

I just added you in the QA Team project (user Jelle2). We should use the tracker there for test.

so I will mail you next time we are having a dev-meeting!

in the meantime, some of the bugs that are fixed but still open in the forge tracker ned regression tests, if you find some time.
http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/tracker/?a ... unc=browse

you can build a query there, (when you are looged in), and get to display bugs still "open" but marked as "fixed". Tell me if you are having issue to close them... not sure if you have to also be added to Core project in order to be able to close bugs, let's see.

Thanks a lot and welcome!

Hello Patricia and the QA team !

Serious testing ? bug discovering and fixing ? regression testing ?
Awesome ! Thank you.

I can't join the team because I can't promise I will download actively and strongly test.
But I can write some bits in the wiki from time to time : feel free to ask.

Happy quality improvments !

It looks like this group is not very active. I'd like to know who has the main responsibility of the QA activities at the moment.

QA is not that formalized today. Quality contributors are the people who :
-test software,
-report bugs,
-file bugs in the forge,
-submit fixes in the forge,
-improve documentations,
-hint tips about hosting contexts,
-et caetera
I don't know who is QA Head today. But you can offer to join and enjoy.

I sent request to join to QATeam yesterday. Hopefully the admins of that group will read their mail every now and then.

The plan is to start to formalize the testing efforts. But we'll see... Ted knows more about the plans.

Good news. Now I have taken over the QATeam. I have began to formalize the work with small team which will be announced later. I have initial permission to use some of my co-workers from quality consulting company to formalize the testing efforts. It is project for us, so it will end at some point. I hope we are able to produce usable regression testing set with automation, but also do the functional testing of forthcoming 1.5.

I really hope that the community will take over our work at some point. Or at least start to use the ideas which we will give.

Wow, that sounds good.

Yes, great !

BTW I like very much that your "co-workers from quality consulting company" have an interest to contribute.
