Announcing CMS Made Simple 1.8.1 - Mankara

Post by tyman00 »

This release fixes an important security vulnerability, we recommend that ALL users upgrade as soon as possible.

The local inclusion vulnerability fixed is old and affects many previous versions of CMSMS. Therefore it is important for ALL installations to be upgraded as soon as possible.
This release also fixes all of the issues encountered with the CMSMS 1.8 release due to the overhaul of the translation function. Your performance in the admin section should be back to normal following this upgrade.

Below is a complete list of the remaining issues that have been addressed in this release, enjoy.

Version 1.8.1 - Mankara

Security:

  • - Fixed local inclusion security flaw
Fixes:
  • - Backend behaved slower then previous release

  • - Core modules/tabs in the backend weren't translated

  • - Internet Explorer didn't show specific backend-pages properly (f.e. News)

  • - Theme: "default" gave message "Undefined index: direction" at the top of the admin area

  • - The content tag didn't allow an underscore in name of a content block

  • - Default content had News categories in summary-template

  • - "Expand/Collapse" buttons added to top of listcontent.php (Admin --> Content --> Pages) for usability improvement

  • - User preference for page-limit when viewing the templates list wasn't followed

  • - Additional blocks were not visible in Content Edit mode, when underscore was used

Version 1.6.8 - Pouebo

As promised, we added this security fix to the 1.6.x series for those that still require PHP4. The new version with the security fixes is 1.6.8

Is it correct there are no database changes in 1.8 and 1.8.1. I'm upgrading a couple of websites from 1.7.1 but running the install has no effect, it just dies in step 2 without a warning, message or error?

Because there's no diff release for 1.8 id expected the need to run the install?

The diff releases are for going from 1.8 to 1.8.1 ... there is no database change between 1.8 and 1.8.1
therefore between those versions you only need to apply the diff.

If upgrading from 1.7.x you will need to download the whole package, and run the install/upgrade.php

Hi CalGuy,

That's exactly what i've done, 2 different websites, upgrading from 1.7.1 to 1.8.1 with full package.

When running install/upgrade.php it just dies, at step 2, no error nothing.

Both websites work fine afterwards, but I cant finish the upgrade.

Have you tried one of them using just 1.8? If that works use the diff file to get to 1.8.1 and let us know.

Will try, and post the results here.

I've attached a screen shot of where the 1.8.1 installer dies, tried it on 3 different website now.

Is there anyway to check if those failed updated websites have the right database schemas?

@ Signex,

I just did an upgrade from 1.7.1 to 1.8 and it went fine...
Be shure all files are uploaded to the server, use the checksum file to check!

Rolf

No luck, checksum tested, etc etc. This is very frustrating, some of these sites run cmsms since 2006, never had so much trouble updating.

It just runs blank on step 2, on 1.8 or 1.8.1.

Sites work fine afterwards, so is there anyway to check if the database schema is correct, are there any database changes in 1.8 and/or 1.8.1?

My setup:
php 5.3.2
apache 2.2.15
CentOs 5
System info in admin is all fine.

But are there database schema changes in 1.8 and 1.8.1?

Yes, from schema 32 (1.7.x) to 33 (1.8.x)

When I look directly in the database table "cms_version" of one of my 1.7.1 installs of cmsms, my version is already at 33? Could that be a reason why the upgrade isn't working

Urghh, forget my remark there... Not my day I think...
I really need to go to bed, that's for shure!!!  ;)

The 32 schema is used in the 1.6.x branch
I Think upgraded an older version, but thought it was 1.7.1
