Modification to News Module for NMS

Hi, I need to modify the summary of a news item to show the first x characters of the summary for the Newsletter, NMS. My guess is that I would move $summary into an array and then use a loop to put the first x number of characters into a variable $shortsummary. Then move that to my newly created te...

Re: What's a "Tab Index" & "Access Key" for?

They're for accessibility - for your readers who have a disability. Tab Index is useful for when you create a page in CSS and want the links to be tabbed through a logical order. Not so important if you've laid out your page as it is meant to be tabbed through. A person who could not use a mouse due...

Re: Another Easy one: I want my news items to have an optional image

The way I add images to News items, is to use a CSS class in the newsletter CSS file. It seems to work for my editor who is not very html savvy.

Re: I love CMS Made Simple

Hi, Thanks for the compliment. The way I use the News module to set up categories for different types of stories - News, Blog, Interview, Opinions, etc. Then on my home page, I just enter the following code. Celebrating Black History Month {news number="1" detailpage="news" categ...

a Comments feature request

Hi,

I use the news and comments modules on many of my pages. I've got comments set so that they are inactive until the editor reviews them. Is there any way of adding  a feature so that the editor can see which news item the comment  is referring to?

Thanks  in advance,

Re: I love CMS Made Simple

Thanks for the feedback.

I fixed the photo in the right column problem by changing the CSS from fixed width to %.

Now to work on the Comments problem.

Thanks again.

I love CMS Made Simple

Hi,

This is my first CMSMS site. Please let me know what you think of it. I couldn't test it with older browsers so any feedback would be terrific.

Re: Album inserts style code on generated page

I too have checked closing tags in my comments. Never touched the templates. Just modified the stylesheet as referenced at top of thread.

Keep tossing those ideas out there and I'll keep trying.

Thanks so much.

Re: No news (summary) in IE, is bad news

Thanks for your prompt reply. I had been searching the forum for hours before I got the courage to ask.

I removed the comments and used {display:none} in the CSS. That did the trick.

Thanks again.

[Solved] No news (summary) in IE, is bad news

Hi, I'm running CMSMS 1.0.2, Linux, PHP 5.2.0, and mySQL 4.1.21 standard. My site: http://goNEWz.com . My news summary on the home page under FireFox is fine, but under IE the summaries are missing and there's a strange indenting thing going on. Here's a screen shot under IE7: http://goNEWz.com/imag...
