SOLVED:  Entirely unrelated issue, my fault.  Was trying to use a different description meta tag for one section of the site - so I removed the call to the global meta tags in the template used for that section, and copied them over, but missed the bit.  Doh. You ignore "DON'T REMOVE THIS"...

Just stumbled into the same problem - am upgrading from 1.5.2 to 1.6.7 (so far) so was a bit concerned to see this.

It's not mentioned anywhere - do I have to set permissions on any of the folders before installing the 1.6 version?  There are a few folders that have to be set writeable for a clean install, not sure if I have to do this for an upgrade install...
