Im looking for a easy way to create a listing of a whole years articles. Something like:

{news start_date="07-01-01" end_date="07-12-31"}

Is there any way to do this? All help is really appreciated!

Thanks blast2007 for this solution:

"There are no options  to do that at this time", without hacking news module.

If you follow instructions above you can use two new parameters: startperiod and endperiod.

@blast & Alby : have you submitted your patches in the forge ?

@blast & Alby : have you submitted your patches in the forge ?

I've some troubles while creating CVS patch file.

I can post (in the forge) a detailed explanation of modified files for adding these new features.

Let me know your opinion.

@blast : I have no opinion, I have read the DevTeam can't track bug reports and patches in the forum but in the forge.

Pierre

Dear Pierre,
following "The steps" of this thread,
point a) says: "Discuss your potential change with the project admin(s), or others in the forum or IRC channel"

My previous post was related to the mentioned point a)

Calguy (I think he's admin of news module) closed discussion saying that's it's impossible to achieve this particular function, ignoring my post, so I thought that my contribute wasn't interesting.

If needed I can try to post a patch, but I think that news "owner" should express his opinion regarding usefulness of this hack.

Regards
blast

Edit:  Alby create diff file,  check here. Thanks again to him

I had misunderstood.
I thought that blast2007 had posted the patch files.
Here there is the patch

@Blast: upload this patch in News tracker with a little description for dev team

When i updated to the latest CMSMS version I lost the changes i had made manually to get this to work. I applied the .diff file (no problem with that) but something isnt working. When i browse a news page thats using the "startperiod" it shows all news, not just the ones between the specified dates. No error message or nothing. Anyone knows what to do?

My mistake with copy/paste.
In prev diff file if startperiod is set endperiod was not considered.
I think that blast have submitted again the new diff file in tracker or download from italian forum (view link at Reply #8)
