webdesigner, tryed to be musician but doesn't work

WWW
« on: 15 Jan 2008, 08:14 »

Hello everybody,

i just made my first CMSMS website, www.agencijazarazvoj.com

website contains 5 languages, but right now only first work - Serbian Latin.
Technics i used: CSS, xHTML, lil' JS, non-tables construction as you can see inside of code.
CMS construction: 4 different templates, 3 news template, look at search - looks great, a lot of css...
design - i just make something that you can see all around over the internet, tabs on home page is variation of tabs that i saw on few websites so i just learned from their code and figurate out how to make.

Thank you guys for this excellent CMS that i will use on many new websites and one day when i get rich i will make donation!

comments are welcome

Where did you get the design template? It's like EE's http://expressionengine.com site and it's nice ...what other sites have you seen this design from before.

(really like the tabs...how did you do it?)

Rya, it is drop dead gorgeous.  And you have discovered and put to good use one of the great things about CMSMS -- that you can have as many different templates as you need for whatever page needs it.

Love the design, excellent!  Send me a PM, I may ask for your (paid of course) help implementing Serbian Latin and/or Serbian Cyrillic on a site we are developing.

Pozdrav!

Pixelita: look into Alby's MLE module if you want multi-lang. I haven't used it but people seem to be liking it.

@hexdj: I will fix that, thanx!,

@giggler: I know that reminds a lot on EE, but i needed blueish design and i tryed not to make to look too much as EE, but that guys made that site perfect, so that was my prototype for designing but i made all alone in photoshop, and if you take a look at some CSS galeries (CSSMANIA perhaps) you will find a lot of sites with tabs, so i was copy the code and learning how guys build that and build one for me, if somebody gonna say that i am thief, kill me Cry  but i needed to learn. so if you need code for tabs i will sent you.
all css except tabs i made it on my own.

I made few more variations on this design and i will post in themes these days just to clean up.

@pixelita: Hvala!

I'm making 3 more web sites powerd by CMSMS, i will post these days!

Cheers!

I think it's perfectly fine to be inspired by a site and learn from it. I think all designers get inspired by one design or another...or sometimes by other things you see in your every day life, it's actually good to explore and once you know how to do something then spin off and make something new from it. You're right also about others using the tab, I did see another gaswachtnoord.nl and not sure if the coding is different but it achieve the same effect. gaswachtnoord.nl site's is also very different in design and not recognizable as being like EE in design. You do tend to see a lot of the same layout on cssmania, most of them do have their own design and it's important to set the design different from others. I know back in the days, everyone wanted their site like Apple...it's a big compliment to the creator and the format is still being used on lots of site today - as long as you give it your own touch and make it not recognizable...

It's nice to see that it can be achieved with cmsms...I love to have the code or know how it's done but I think if someone here also know how to create the tab with a different coding, that would be better since I don't know if EE used a generic code or if it's custom code that is copyrighted...not sure how things like that works... Still, it's nice that you're able to do it in cmsms!

Actually does someone know how to create the tab using something like the cmsmadesimple.org homepage (right side)? If someone can make this like a module/tags, that would be great. To be able to have the selection to use with bits of content or feature images...or is there already something like this?

Here is an article about tabs on Jakob Nielsen http://www.useit.com/alertbox/tabs.html

@gigler:

The code for the tabs is all contained in the HTML of the home page, there's a little script at the end of the page that just finds certain elements that have an specific rel attribute I believe. I just played with it to implement the template in the Spanish site for CMSMS.

@giggler: Thanks for advice, i will customize this site to look different from EE, about tabs, i totaly understand css but i don't have knowlege in JS. I used code only on home page with tabs, when i understand how really works i will change code, not to be stolen.

@Alby: Thanks Alby for this beautiful CMSMS MLE, i tryed few cms with multilanguage support but on the end i chose CMSMS becouse here is no better for multilingual websites then yours!

Also i'm really interested to translate CMSMS on Serbian language for both writing letters, we use LATIN (Similar to English Alphabet just have few more signs) and CYRILIC (oldschool but official language in Serbia, similar to Russian, really painful for building websites). First problem is how to implement 2 way of writing the same language, good about that, every word have the same letters on both LATIN and CYRILIC.
Can you give me the direction where to start and is there some documentation which describe what i need to translate, thanks!

sorry for bad english.

There is a Serbian/srpski translation in forge but I see an old release and nothing use of translation center.
PM to reneh or westis for include in admin in Serbian project and ask for create other Serbian project (same of Chinese projects: Traditional and Simplified).

Translation center is very easy with the fields to the left in English and right to translate   Smiley
